Health professionals and medical apps, the future of healthcare

We have often talked of the many advantages health apps have for patients and for users in general, but do we know what doctors think about them? This past Thursday (9 April 2024) the Telemedicine & eHealth Section of the Royal Society of Medicine of the UK organised a conference that sought to discuss apps from a medical perspective. It was titled 'mainstreaming medical apps; reducing NHS costs; improving patient outcomes', and we talked to the Section's President Dr Charles Lowe to learn what it would consist of. The "basic intent of the conference", he explained to us, is to "encourage doctor and patients to use medical apps" and "to make sure that professional apps will do", that is, that they are useful, reliable and accurate.
