Ministerial Programme 24th February 2014

Successful collaboration and partnerships for mHealth

Developed countries are under intense pressure to reduce the cost of healthcare, whereas developing countries have a greater need to deliver life-saving services more broadly. Mobile technology offers unprecedented potential to make healthcare more effective, scalable and affordable. What role can mobile play in delivering future healthcare worldwide? How can governments embrace the significant opportunity to improve quality of life for individuals, and increase access and efficiency in health services for its citizens? This session will highlight emerging best practices from mHealth implementations.

  • With the convergence of consumer electronics and medical devices, what areas of regulatory overlap exist, and what must governments do to remove uncertainty?
  • Are accepted regulatory best practices emerging in this relatively new sector?
  • How can governments, healthcare providers, device makers and mobile operators work together to bring mobile health solutions to citizens?
