    An electronic database that holds, manages, and retrieves radiological health data, including patient files and images. Advances in client/server operating systems, medical imaging, and health information standards continue to reinforce RIS involvement in increasing the efficiency and quality of care in radiology.

  1. Remote Monitoring

    The use of wireless communications devices in conjunction with monitoring hardware to track a patient's condition while they are in their homes. Doctors can use the data collected through remote monitoring to identify a patient's worsening condition without requiring the patient to stay in a hospital. Remote monitoring includes devices such as glucose meters for patients with diabetes and heart or blood pressure monitors for patients receiving cardiac care.
